1. About EASAlert

ComTekk EASAlert makes use of the computer sound card and software DSP (Digital Signal Processing) techniques to listen for the SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding) signals sent over NOAA Weather Radio, Television or AM/FM radio broadcasts. The data is decoded and presented in a readable plain-text format. EASAlert users are instantly alerted by audio/visual signals on the computer, as well as email and text message (SMS). SMS messages usually only take 10-30 seconds for delivery over cellular networks, whereas subscription-based alerts are often delayed 15-30 minutes or more. In the event of a Tornado Warning, that delay could be too late.

Using the PTT relay feature, EASAlert can key a transmitter for automatic re-broadcast of NOAA emergency messages (FCC rules apply). This feature is compatible with most sound card interface devices currently available.

This product is intended for fire and EMS personnel, hobbyists, first responders, and emergency managers who need the fastest possible means of notification without having to carry a weather alert radio or constantly monitor broadcasts.

EASAlert was first conceived by the author in 2006 as the next logical step after the ComTekk 2-Tone Decoder was released. It started as a weather-only alert system and eventually morphed into SafAlert Notifier, a complete email alert notification system. In 2010, Williams developed a FSK decoder for the S.A.M.E. data format, creating EASAlert with many of the same features and GUI used in SafAlert.
