1. About SafAlert

ComTekk SafAlert makes use of the computer sound card and software DSP (Digital Signal Processing) techniques to listen for specific audio tones, such as a fire dispatch single or two-tone paging sequence followed by voice instructions. These dispatch signals, commonly referred to as "alarms", "alerts" or "tone-outs" are typically used to alert fire and EMS personnel via 2-way radio. SafAlert users are alerted by audio/visual signals on the computer, as well as email and text message (MMS).

All single-tone and 2-tone (1+1) formats are supported, including Motorola Quick-Call II™, GE, Plectron, Reach, etc.

This product is intended for hobbyists, first responders, fire and EMS personnel and emergency managers who would like a secondary or supplementary method of notification.

SafAlert was first conceived by the author in 2006 as the next logical step after the ComTekk 2-Tone Decoder was released. It started as a weather-only alert system and eventually morphed into a complete email alert notification system.

Additional enhancements are planned, including new signaling formats as well as Fire Station Alerting features.
